Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches

Philly cheesesteak sandwiches with thin juicy sirloin strips, sauteed mushrooms, onions, and green peppers on a sliced hoagie bun with mayonnaise and melted cheese. The sandwich is then baked in the oven to get a crunchy crust and melted cheese.

  • 2 Packages Thinly Sliced Sirloin

  • 10 Hoagie Buns

  • 2 Green Peppers

  • 1 Medium Onion

  • 8 oz Mushrooms

  • 8 oz Shredded Mozzarella

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce

  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

  • 1 tsp Salt

  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper

  • 1/3 cup Butter

  • 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil

  • Mayonnaise

  • Aluminum Foil

  • Rinse and slice green peppers, onion, and mushrooms into thin pieces. Add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to a large pan or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add sliced vegetables and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 5-6 minutes until vegetables are tender and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once hot, add Pre-Sliced Sirloin Beef. Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper and stir. Cook until meat is browned. Add vegetables back to pan and stir together.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Slice each hoagie bun and spread a thin layer of mayonnaise to the inside of each bun. Fill each bun with cooked sirloin and vegetables. Add mozzarella on top of sirloin and vegetables. Melt butter in a small bowl and use a basting brush to top each bun with butter. Wrap each sandwich with aluminum foil. Bake in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 12-17 minutes until cheese is melted.

Made it for our bbq party. Easy and quick, thank you!

Ribeye is the traditional choice of meat for a cheesesteak made in Philadelphia. Many different versions use sliced sirloin or ground beef, while others replace the beef with chicken.

The cheese is typically slices of provolone, but there are many who use Chees Whiz, American, mozzarella, or even a blend of some of the cheeses together.

Philly cheesesteaks can come with a variety of sauteed or grilled vegetables. Green peppers and onions are the most often seen, and others add red peppers, mushrooms, raw lettuce and tomato, and mayonnaise is added to the bun.
